::Inventa Australia just released a world-unique infrared All-Purpose Remote Controller that goes far beyond TV tuner remote control.
First, it certainly can control TV tuners -- not just Inventa's TV tuners, but can control all brands, all models TV tuners made by all manufacturers.
But beyond TV tuner control, All-Purpose Remote Control has a user-configuration graphical interface that allows any software's keyboard operation to be mapped as remote-control button pressing, therefore any software is remote-controllable. Out of the box, its built-in settings now control Microsoft Media Centre2005, Microsoft MediaPlayer, and Microsoft Internet Explorer, plus PowerDVD, MyTheatre and ShowShifter. Using their own configurations, users can remote-control any software running on the PC.
Furthermore, All-Purpose Remote Control allows multiple windows to be remote-controlled simultaneously: multiple TV channels, DVD/Video/Audio playback windows, multimedia presentation windows, multiple Internet pages etc. can all be controlled from the same remote controller. One remote-button clicking allows instant switching among multiple windows. TV picture-in-picture, video picture-by-picture, randomly arranged Video/Internet/Presentation windows can all be remotely moved, positioned, toggled, zoomed in and out. Typical examples include remotely jumping in and out of multiple Internet web pages, with a digital TV recording at the upper right corner, and a home security camera inputs at the lower left corner of the screen.
Not only mapping other software functions to its buttons, All-Purpose Remote Control can also map its own special functions to buttons, initially these functions include picture-in-picture switching, PC shutdown or reboot, window zoom-in/zoom-out, audio volume up/down and window position control etc. Gradually more functions will be added by Inventa Australia.
